Food Security in Algerian Legislation: An Analytical Study of the Contribution of Legal Provisions Regulating Agricultural Production to Its Achievement"

Abstract

This article examines the approach to food security in Algerian legislation by analyzing the relevant laws and governmental programs that regulate and support agricultural production, supply, trade, and consumer protection. It also traces the evolution of the concept of food security at both international and national levels and identifies the institutional mechanisms employed to achieve it, particularly in the areas of organization, planning, oversight, and regulation. The study analyzes the legislative foundations underpinning integrated governmental policies across multiple sectors, aimed at ensuring the right to adequate food. Furthermore, it emphasizes the critical importance of coordinating policies and legal frameworks to ensure resource sustainability, safeguard consumer rights, and promote sound governance within the food sector. The article concludes that the convergence of legal norms, policy programs, and institutional mechanisms constitutes a foundational pillar for consolidating and sustaining food security in Algeria.
