Rules of good conduct for the banking profession: "Controls"... need "settings"

Banking operations are inherently dangerous witch necessitates the intervention of the legislator in order to impose rules and mechanisms to contain this danger. Is it sufficient for bankers to respect the law in its broad and technical sense in the banking field, or should they respect ethical principles in their dealing with each other and with their customers?
The sensitivity of the banking field and the need for the public’s confidence and comfort in dealing with banks and financial institutions impose respect for ethics in the practice of banking activities: ethics called by the legislator as “the rules of good conduct of the banking profession.”
This article aims to shed light on the legal framework of these rules in the Algerian banking system, while indicating its weaknesses and strengths.
