Product Self-Regulation and Consumer Protection
Keywords:
Regulation, consumer, stakeholderAbstract
The operator plays a role in consumer protection through self-regulation of its products, which ensures product safety and security, thereby preventing them from posing a danger or harm to consumers. Self-regulation is considered one of the most important forms of product oversight; therefore, the legislature has mandated it for the operator both before and after the product is made available for consumption. Since making a product available for consumption encompasses processes related to production, distribution, and importation, this type of oversight varies depending on the nature and role of the operator—whether as a producer, distributor, or importer.
