Abstract

This study examines the powers granted by Algerian legislation to inspection and anti-fraud officials as a mechanism for detecting violations covered by Law No. 09/03 on consumer protection and the suppression of fraud, The study focuses on the various inspection procedures followed and the precautionary measures taken to protect consumers from the risks posed by local products. Despite the Algerian legislature’s expansion of the scope of oversight, consumers continue to suffer from the prevalence of numerous non-compliant products that do not meet even the most basic safety standards, and for this reason, it has become necessary to assess the effectiveness of the role assigned by the legislature to product control officials in curbing the violations we witness in our daily lives.
