The Role of Consumer Protection Organizations in Product Oversight
Keywords:
Consumer, Monitoring, Association, Harmful ProductsAbstract
As independent regulatory bodies, consumer protection associations may play a role in monitoring products available on the market and verifying their safety and security. This is done to protect consumers and raise their awareness in order to safeguard them, as well as to notify administrative bodies and regulatory authorities about products that are harmful to consumers, with the aim of putting an end to their sale and marketing. These associations also represent consumers before the courts, particularly to seek compensation for those who have been harmed—a role authorized by various legal provisions, as they act in the public interest.
