The scope of natural disaster insurance and the supervision imposed on it
Abstract
Abstract: This study aims to determine the scope of application of the mandatory insurance from natural disasters approved by the legislator under Ordinance 03/12 of August 26, 2003 related to the mandatory insurance of natural disasters and compensation for victims, following the disasters that Algeria witnessed during that period, and to shed light on the effectiveness of the oversight that imposed by the state on this mandatory in order to activate it. This study concluded that the insurance system against natural disasters is tainted by some shortcomings, ranging from a lack of wording of some of its texts on the one hand, and the ineffectiveness of the methods of control and penalties approved by it on the other hand, which prevented it from achieving its goal.
