Memory quests and investigations in the current Algerian novel

Abstract

From its birth and throughout its evolution, the Algerian novel in the French language has never stopped thinking and rethinking history and memory. Instrumentalized in different ways, the visions proposed only enrich the field of studies in the human sciences and current debates. And if the works produced are certainly a reflection of generational affiliations, they are also and above all the prerogative of all of History and society.From national narrative to collective memory, the current Algerian novel is still grappling with a historical past and present through quests and memorial investigations against the desire for oblivion. By questioning postcolonial, post-memory and postmodern theories, the objective of this article is precisely to show to what extent the Algerian novel invests and invests in the historical and memorial dimensions in an extremely tight articulation: through the whole shared representations, it is not only a question of structuring and forming this collective memory; but essentially founding and shaping multiple identities of an Algeria in movement.
