Abstract: This research paper discussed the effect of the COVID-19 crisis upon consumers’ rights in food safety. This pandemic caused a global food emergency that led to force precautionary measures and enacting new laws to deal with the risks to prevent the defects, which may harm the food safety programs. The study was conducted in the United Arab Emirates, which created a group of precautionary measurements and procedures to ensure the provision of proper food to its residents. It also confirmed the supplier's responsibility for food safety, by strengthening food control and inspection procedures during the COVID-19 crisis. Although the United Arab Emirates’ legislator had precedence in regulating the issue of food safety before the Corona crisis, it was necessary to introduce special procedures for these exceptional circumstances. It was also necessary to define the responsibilities of each party in ensuring the consumer’s right to food safety. Keywords: food safety; COVID-19; food risks; sustainable protection.
