الملخص

تعرضت أسس أسلوب الحرب الأمريكي النموذجي الذي انبثق عن ثقافة استراتيجية محددة لتحدٍ عميق عبر التاريخ الأمريكي بسبب سلسلة من الأزمات. كان أهمها فشل التدخل العسكري الأمريكي في فيتنام. أنتجت هذه الأزمة تحولات حاسمة ولدت بدورها طريقة جديدة للحرب. هذه الطريقة الجديدة للحرب، بالاعتماد على أحدث تكنولوجيا المعلومات والأسلحة، سمحت للولايات المتحدة بالحفاظ على مكانتها العالمية في أعقاب الحرب الباردة، لكنها فشلت تمامًا في معالجة الشاغل الأساسي للاستراتيجية المتمثل في إعطاء الحرب منفعتها السياسية الفعالة. يحاول هذا المقال تقييم الأهمية المعطاة في الولايات المتحدة لفهم الاستراتيجية العسكرية على ضوء المتغيرات الداخلية والخارجية ومدى انعكاس هذا الفهم على الأهمية المعطاة لفائدة القوة العسكرية باعتبارها استمرارًا للسياسة.
